Employer’s Liability (EL) insurance is customary to get for employers. If you are hiring a nanny for your home, then you become an employer. So, it is advisable to get insurance as soon as possible. The insurance policy that you are applying for should cover at least £5 million. The policy should be provided by a permitted insurer. If your employee is ill or injured while working for you and this insurance will help you pay. If you do not insure properly after hiring a nanny, you will be fined £2,500 every day until you get insurance. After you applied for insurance and if it is done properly, then an EL certificate will be provided.
